Unique Experience: Water Disco and Jungle Adventure When you arrive here, you will switch to a circular bamboo basket boat, led by local rowers who will guide you into the narrow waterways. Tall nipa palm leaves on both sides obscure the sky, making it feel like you’ve entered a mini version of the Amazon River.
Must-Visit Highlights
Spinning Performance: This is the highlight of the trip! In the spacious waters, skilled boatmen will spin the basket boat wildly to the rhythm of upbeat electronic dance music (usually Gangnam Style or Vietnamese disco), even performing stand-up paddling on the boat.
For the Brave: Adventurous visitors can voluntarily sit on the boat to experience the "human coffee cup," guaranteed to make you dizzy and question life, but it's a lot of fun (remember to tip afterward, usually around 20,000 - 50,000 VND).
Crab Fishing: The boatman will prepare small fishing rods with meat attached, teaching you how to catch small crabs in the muddy areas at the roots of the nipa palms. This is a fun activity that requires patience, and usually, the crabs are released after being caught.
Net Fishing Demonstration: In wider parts of the river, fishermen will demonstrate traditional net fishing techniques, and the circular fishing nets cast in the sunset are incredibly beautiful, perfect for photography.
Water Karaoke: The locals are very enthusiastic, and there is often a simple stage set up in the middle of the river where visitors can sing, creating a very joyful atmosphere (though the sound system is usually quite loud).
Visiting Tips
Sun Protection and Gear: Although there is shade from the nipa palm forest, some areas of the water are still exposed to sunlight. The boat usually provides conical hats for visitors to take photos and shield themselves from the sun, but it is still recommended to apply sunscreen and wear sunglasses.
Motion Sickness Warning: If you are prone to motion sickness, definitely do not challenge the spinning experience, or take motion sickness medication in advance. Simply cruising on the river is very smooth, so there’s no need to worry.
Tipping Culture: After the trip, if you are satisfied with the boatman’s service (helping with photos, weaving grass rings, etc.), it is customary to give each boatman a tip of about 20,000 to 50,000 VND as a token of appreciation.
