Hoi An Impression Show

Da Nang

If you can only see one performance in Central Vietnam, it must be the "Hoi An Impression Show." This show is set against the backdrop of the real Thu Bon River and its islands, featuring an enormous outdoor stage covering 25,000 square meters. The entire performance involves over 500 professional actors, with the Vietnamese national costume "Ao Dai" as the main visual element, combined with top-notch lighting, music, and water dance effects. It condenses the 400-year history of Hoi An, from its early settlement, Champa culture, and cross-national marriages to becoming a prosperous international trading port, into a one-hour visual spectacle.

Detailed Content

The 5 Acts: A Show Without Language Barriers, Telling Stories Through Visuals and Music

  • Act 1: Life: The show opens with a girl at a loom, symbolizing the birth of Hoi An. Hundreds of women dressed in white Ao Dai glide through the light and shadows on glowing bicycles, creating an extremely beautiful scene.

  • Act 2: Wedding: Reenacting the famous historical political marriage between the Champa king and Princess Huyen Tran of Dai Viet. The stage features a giant elephant prop and magnificent Champa dances, showcasing the grand wedding procession of that time.

  • Act 3: Lamps & Sea: The most tear-jerking scene of the entire show. It tells the story of a sailor working at sea while his wife waits on the shore, turning into a stone of longing. The stage effects of stormy weather add significant emotional tension.

  • Act 4: Trading Port: Showcasing the prosperity of Hoi An as an international trading port from the 16th to the 19th century. Ships from Japan, China, the Netherlands, and France gather here, with merchants bringing different cultures, spices, and silks, creating a lively atmosphere on stage.

  • Act 5: Ao Dai: A microcosm of modern Hoi An. Accompanied by classic music, girls elegantly showcase various Ao Dai, while lanterns of traditional architecture light up, perfectly concluding the entire performance.

Tips

  • Arrive Early for a Time Travel Experience: It is recommended to enter the "Hoi An Impression Theme Park" around 16:30. The park replicates ancient Chinese cities, Japanese villages, and Vietnamese settlements, featuring many small interactive street performances (such as martial arts, selecting a bride, folk dances), making it very suitable for dressing in traditional Vietnamese attire or Ao Dai for photos.

  • Seating Choice: It is strongly recommended to purchase HIGH (Premium Seats). This show sells the "grand view" and "light formations," and sitting too close may obscure the geometric patterns formed by hundreds of performers; the view from the middle to the back is the most stunning.

  • Outdoor Protection: Since it is an entirely outdoor live show, there is no shelter except for the VIP area. It is advisable to carry a lightweight raincoat (the park occasionally provides them, but bringing your own is safer) and to take necessary mosquito protection measures.
