Detailed Content

Historical Background: From Ancient to Pink Transformation The new Tân Định Church (Nhà thờ Tân Định), officially named the "Sacred Heart of Jesus Church," was established in 1876 during the French colonial period. The original color of the church was not the pink seen today; it was during a major renovation in 1957 that the church decided to paint it a vibrant Salmon Pink, which has been preserved to this day. This church is not only a popular Instagram spot but also an important center of faith for local Catholics, standing tall on the bustling Hai Ba Trung street for nearly a century and a half.

Architectural Features: A Disney-like Fairy Tale Castle The church features a Romanesque architectural style, incorporating Gothic and Renaissance elements.

  • Bell Tower: The octagonal bell tower, standing at 52.6 meters in the center, is the most striking landmark, topped with a large white cross.

  • Interior: If you are fortunate enough to enter the interior, you will find that the columns and ceiling are all interspersed with pink and white, complemented by stained glass windows, creating an atmosphere that is both sacred and warm.

Photo Tips: Two Excellent Angles (Photo Spots)

  1. Angle One: Interior Courtyard (Close-up) Walk through the iron gate and take photos in the corridor and garden on the side of the church. Here, you can capture the intricate white reliefs of the church contrasting with the pink walls.

    • Important Reminder (Dress Code): The guards are very diligent! No sleeveless tops, shorts, or skirts above the knee are allowed. If your attire does not comply, the guards will directly refuse you entry at the gate, and you won't even be allowed to take photos in the courtyard. Please be sure to bring a light jacket or shawl to cover up.

  2. Angle Two: Opposite Cong Caphe (Panorama) If you want to capture the pink church with "no pedestrians" and a "complete panorama," please cross the street to the opposite Cong Caphe (Vietnamese Coffee).

    • Order a coconut coffee and head up to the outdoor terrace on the 3rd floor. This is the only place where you can have a level view of the bell tower and capture the grandeur of the entire pink castle, completely free from dress code and opening time restrictions.
